How have you found the apprenticeship so far?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my Apprenticeship so far. Completing my Apprenticeship allows me to constantly reflect on my knowledge, skills and behaviours and identify areas I want to work on. My Talent Coach has been extremely supportive, and we have regular catch-up calls to discuss my progress, which I have found very useful. I track my progress using a ‘Scorecard’ and I can’t wait to see how much I improve on my initial scorecard by the end of my apprenticeship.
What has been your biggest learning so far?
As part of my Apprenticeship, I am also completing two qualifications in Internal Audit. This has allowed me to gain a solid grounding in Internal Audit within a short period of time and helped me to transition smoothly into the team. Completing my apprenticeship alongside other work commitments has allowed me to develop excellent time-management skills when managing my workload.
How do you use your apprenticeship learnings in your day to day role?
In my day-to-day role, I am always conscious of the knowledge, skills and behaviours I am working towards as part of my Apprenticeship. If I feel I am behind in a specific area, I seek out opportunities to work on it. There are a range of resources available to me on the apprenticeship website. My Talent Coach also encourages me to continuously develop my professional skills and I am very happy with the progress I have made. I am able to apply theory I have learned as part of my Apprenticeship to my audit work, which has ultimately improved the quality of my audit work.
What are some examples of the off the job training you have completed?
A large amount of my off the job training has been training in operational areas of the business. For example, I have completed placements in Sales, Logistics, Supply Chain and HR. These placements have allowed me to develop an excellent understanding of the Lidl business model and how different departments link.
What are the three words you would use to describe your apprenticeship journey?
Insightful, challenging but supported.
