The apprenticeship itself has been relatively easy and smoothly running because I have been increasing my knowledge and abilities as the time has progressed. It is well set out in the way one learns the modules and then completes a module overview at the end of each one.

Meet Aidan, Warehouse Operative Desk Clerk, Supply Chain Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship

Aidan our Warehouse Operative and Desk Clerk is studying for the Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship alongside his role. Read on to find out more about his experience so far:

How have you found the apprenticeship so far?

The apprenticeship itself has been relatively easy and smoothly running because I have been increasing my knowledge and abilities as the time has progressed. It is well set out in the way one learns the modules and then completes a module overview at the end of each one.

What has been your biggest learning so far?

The computer systems and how they work, tied in with the bigger picture overview of how the structure of the warehouse organisation works has been so useful for me. It has been invaluable in improving my abilities and knowledge of how to solve problems, considering how my potential solutions affect us and other departments.

How do you use your Apprenticeship learnings in your day to day role?

I need the knowledge of the bigger picture and how other departments work every day in knowing who to go to discuss issues and solutions, and on why we do the tasks we do the way we do. My colleagues have also benefitted from this in the same way, as when they complain about a procedure I can explain why it is important that the job is done this way.

How are you currently using your off the job training?

Using this time to learn some of my colleagues’ roles, mainly for a greater understanding, has come in useful recently as I was able to cover a role, albeit as a limited service, when one of them was on holiday and the other was sick. I could step in at the last minute, to help out.

What are the three words you would use to describe your apprenticeship journey?

Slow-burning, useful and informative.
