My Lidl journey so far

I joined as a Customer Assistant in August 2011. This was a great opportunity for me to learn and progress within a competitive industry. After displaying promising attributes, I was given the chance to become a Duty Manager (now called Shift Manager) within six months of my employment with Lidl. 

As a Duty Manager, I took ownership of store key performance indicators such as inventory, setting a working culture and being a role model. And so due to my ability to use my initiative, I swiftly progressed onto being a Deputy Store Manager. This was a challenging and rewarding role, given the level of responsibility during my early career with the company. As I was excelling, I moved stores to showcase my learning and traits that I developed at Lidl.

It became apparent that my level of knowledge had improved and I was motivated to take the next step into becoming a Store Manager. This was a fantastic transition period as I was now leading, training and developing the management team, while improving the performance of the store. I managed four different stores in two different regions in the country over the course of six years as a Store Manager.

Why I applied for my latest role

I have a proven track record of success and people management. I felt that this was the perfect opportunity for me to apply for an Area Manager role. I wanted to display my in-store abilities on a bigger scale. I undertook numerous projects within the regional sales department which gave me the drive and courage.

What I like most about my role

I really enjoy working with different teams and departments within our region, but mostly I love leading a team I’m passionate about to succeed. There are many great peers within Lidl that offer guidance and support. At Lidl, I’ve always felt that the possibilities are endless and that your role is what you make it and I would love for my team to feel the same way.

My plans for the future

Sales has always been my passion and I wish to fulfil that by becoming Head of Sales within a region. I have so much more to offer and with the support of Lidl, I believe I can achieve anything.

What I think about progression opportunities at Lidl

I am a current example of Lidl giving great opportunities. The possibilities are endless. With the right attitude and determination, you can achieve a lot. Many people I have worked with have also progressed and it is a pleasing factor that I have been a part of their growing career.
