It is recommended that you do tell your line manager as they will be able to support you based on current performance. Please note however that your line manager will be informed if you are successfully invited to an interview.

Not every role requires an online test to be completed. The job advert will always specify whether or not you are required to complete one.

The online test is specifically tailored to each role; the format may therefore vary based on the role you’re applying for. Before the test starts you will be given a summary of what to expect and a chance to run through some practice questions.

Your terms and conditions will reflect those of your new role, you will have the opportunity to discuss this at interview. New terms and conditions will honour existing Lidl length of service and any benefits associated with this (e.g. sabbatical leave after five years of service).

No, there is no probation period if you are already a Lidl colleague.

No, as you are already a Lidl colleague, this is not required. Your induction and training will be managed by your new line manager.

Application or telephone interviewIf you are unsuccessful after the face-to-face interview process you must wait 3 months to re-apply for the same role. 1.    If you fit into the “preferred candidate for interview” for this specific role you can apply for this vacancy as many times as you wish with no time limit to reapply. Example: For a Store Manager vacancy, “preferred candidates for interview” include: •    Development step E Deputy Store Managers •    Store Managers working in a different location2.    If you are unsuccessful but you have passed the interview/assessment process there is no time limit to reapply. Occasionally, a colleague will score a mark on an assessment that is high enough to pass, but still not be offered the role (usually because another candidate scored an even higher mark).3.    If you are not a “preferred candidate for interview” and you have not passed the interview/assessment process, then you should wait a period of 6 months (as a minimum) before applying for the same role again, even if it’s in a different location.You can ask the Recruitment Team for feedback on your application at any stage of the process to help you with an application you may decide to make in the future.

Yes, you can apply for multiple jobs if you feel they are suited to your skills, experience and aspirations. Please note however that our company policy is to not accept multiple applications for the same role within a six-month period.

Permanent colleagues can apply for temporary roles, often called Temporary Assignments or “FTC” (fixed term contract). If successful you will be placed into this role on a secondment basis and once this has come to an end you can return to a similar role in the same location as before. If you are unclear whether a role matches what you’re looking for, please speak to the recruitment team.

How to use AI AI can help you get the ball rolling on your application, like creating a first draft of a CV or cover letter, checking structure, or spotting spelling errors. It can also support interview preparation, like practising answers with the STAR technique. When used as a guide rather than a replacement for your own work, AI can help you feel more prepared and confident throughout the application and interview process. How not to use AI Although AI can be a useful tool to get your application started, it works best as a support rather than something to rely on. We want to get to know the real you, and AI-generated answers often sound generic. The same goes for task work – you'll get the most out of the process if you fully understand what you’ve produced and can talk about it confidently.  When you use AI as a tool and not as a shortcut, you’ll give yourself the best chance of standing out. Please note: Avoid sharing personal or sensitive details with AI, as it may store and use the information you provide.
