Meet Raed - Consultant in our Head Office Audit Department

Could you tell us about your Lidl journey so far?

My journey with Lidl started 4 years ago when I applied for the graduate scheme in the Avonmouth region. During my 2 years on the graduate scheme I was able to gain insight to all areas of the business, starting off in sales, Supply chain and ending it within Logistics. The rotation from department to department allowed me to build good foundation for Lidl knowledge which has massively helped me in my Lidl career. After my 2 years on the graduate scheme, I wanted to pursue a career in Logistics as this was the area of the business I enjoyed the most. Unfortunately, there was no vacancies in the region I had worked in, so I decided to apply for a role in Head Office as a Logistics Auditor. I ended up getting the role and been there ever since. I am now in my 3rd year as a logistics auditor and have had the best time in in this role. I have learned so much and met some amazing people on the way. I am looking forward to what the future holds.

What do you most enjoy about your role?

What I enjoy most about my role is being able to meet different people and build connections with them, from all different sides of the country. My job requires me to travel 50% of the time to different regions across the UK. This has allowed me to meet some amazing people and learn a lot about different cultures within those regions and great teachings I can take away. Since being in my role as an Auditor, I have built lots of relationships with people from all levels across the UK and I really enjoy doing this and I will continue making more connections.

What's your team dynamic like?

The team dynamic in Audit is slightly different I would say as the job is very independent, all Auditors do a lot of driving and are therefore always away from home & HO. This means that we don’t get to see our peers a lot, unless Team meetings take place. However, we all have a great relationship and always try support each other as the job can get quite intense.

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge so far has been making the switch to Lidl Head Office from working in regions. I used to work in region close to my house and was used to always working in the city I lived in. However, as I was coming towards to end of my graduate scheme, I soon realised there would be no jobs in region and I needed to look elsewhere. During this period I was very scared and stressed as I was not sure what to do and was worried of a move away to London. However, I ended up building the courage to apply for a role and moving to Head Office. Since moving, I have been extremely happy about my decision and looking back at it now I am glad I decided to make the move. Sometimes leaving your comfort zone for opportunities is the best way forward.

What's your most fond memory of working at Lidl?

My fondest memory of working with Lidl is building connections with some amazing people that work for the company. I enjoy making new friends and appreciating other peoples' work, there are lots of talented/hard working people working for the company who are great people and just building relationships with those people makes me feel happy.

Do you have a favourite Lidl benefit?

My favourite Lidl benefit is GYMPASS, I am someone who likes to keep fit and go the gym in my free time. GYMPASS has given me access to hundreds of gyms across the country at discounted rates making it ideal for me to still workout when away for work. It also saves me lots of money which is great!
