Life at Lidl
We are a proud bunch here at Lidl. Proud of our achievements, proud of our growth, and proud of our unwavering commitment to quality. In a recent employee survey, our employees told us what they think are the best things about working for Lidl. Some of the highlights included team culture, competitive salaries, loyalty and job security.
We recognise that every employee is a piece in the Lidl puzzle, and each person’s contribution is valued. We foster a culture of respect, one that encourages employees to be themselves.
Discount prices certainly don’t mean discount careers, with long term career prospects and a progressive environment in which to grow and develop.
First and foremost, we’re all about satisfying our customers and we always aim to provide outstanding value for money. We believe in efficient decision making, and simple working practices which unites our business and helps us grow. We respect and follow all applicable laws, and take our economic, social and environmental responsibilities seriously. We’re committed to being fair to everyone who works for us, and through respect and support we honour our promises and believe in trust.
Our Personnel & Welfare Coordinators (PWCs) provide excellent support and advice on all employment matters. They’re friendly, approachable and great listeners. Your conversations are completely confidential so you can always talk to your PWC openly and receive their expert advice.
Health & Wellbeing
Your health and wellbeing are important to us. That’s why we support a number of initiatives such as company promoted sports clubs and sporting events. These activates vary from region to region and from year to year, but current and past clubs and activities include running, football, netball and basketball clubs, as well as paid participation in the Kingston Run and the Banana-man Triathlon. In 2012 in the spirit of the London Olympic Games, we held our very own Lidl-Lympics, with regional teams competing in various events from go-karting, football and rounders to running, golf and netball. Great fun was had by all, but particularly by the winning teams who were all treated to a luxurious gala dinner and dance hosted by David Walliams!
We’re serious about our work, but we want to have a good time too. Our Family Fun Days held last summer are the perfect example. These all-day events, held in every region, gave us a chance to thank our employees and welcome their families to a fete-like event with activities that ranging from bouncy castles and rock climbing walls to face painting, crazy golf, and arts and crafts.
