Data Protection

Data Protection is important to us

Thank you for your interest in Lidl.

We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. In the following Privacy Statement you will find out which data we process when you visit the Lidl GB Careers site, the application portal (SAP eRecruiting) and in the context of the application process.

1. What data do we process when visiting this website?

When visiting this website, log files are generated with the following content:

  • your IP address
  • the website URL
  • a description of the type of user agent used (for example, your web browser)
  • the web page from which you came to the current page (referrer)
  • the date and time of the query

The log files are stored for 14 days to provide information about the potential attacker in case of hacker attacks.

2. What data do we process when visiting the application portal?

When you start the application process, technical cookies are installed. Cookies are small text files that are sent from our web server to your device (eg. PC, notebook, smartphone or tablet) and stored there in the Internet browser you use. They allow information to be kept for a certain period of time and identify the visitor's device. Cookies do not harm your device, do not contain viruses, Trojans or other malicious software. To control your visit, only so-called session cookies are used, which are automatically deleted when you close your browser. There is thus no permanent storage of data on your device. You can set your browser to inform you about the placement of cookies; so the use of cookies becomes transparent for you. Further information on our cookies can be found here.

3. What data do we process as part of your application process?

Your application documents will be processed solely for Lidl’s recruitment purposes. This is done in compliance with Art. 6 (1)(b) of the GDPR. Lidl collects information from job applicants who apply via our website directly. The information that you provide on the application portal will be used to process your application.

As soon as your application documents are submitted in the application portal, you will automatically receive an acknowledgment of receipt by e-mail.

Applicants for certain advertised roles may also be asked to register basic personal details in order to complete online assessments with external providers Cut-e UK Limited and The Talent Group UK Limited. These providers are liable to Data Protection legislation and bound to it via contract by Lidl GB.

4. How long do we save your data?

If your application is successful, your data from the candidate profile will form part of your personnel record. If the application is unsuccessful, your data will still be kept for six months, after which your data will be deleted. The same applies if you withdraw your application or have your application profile deleted. An application saved in draft but never submitted will be deleted after 7 days.

5. What rights do you have when processing your data?

According to Art. 15 (1) of the GDPR, you have the right, upon request, to obtain information about the personal data stored about you free of charge. In addition, you have a right of deletion under Art. 17 GDPR, the right to restrict processing under Art. 17 GDPR, and a right to rectify your personal data under Art. 16 GDPR.
