Health & Wellbeing
Your health and wellbeing are important to us. That’s why we support a number of initiatives such as company promoted sports clubs and sporting events. These activates vary from region to region and from year to year, but current and past clubs and activities include running, football, netball and basketball clubs, as well as paid participation in the Kingston Run and the Banana-man Triathlon. In 2012 in the spirit of the London Olympic Games, we held our very own Lidl-Lympics, with regional teams competing in various events from go-karting, football and rounders to running, golf and netball. Great fun was had by all, but particularly by the winning teams who were all treated to a luxurious gala dinner and dance hosted by David Walliams!
In recent years our Retail Placement Programme has earned us a finalist and a winning spot in the NCWE National Placement and Internship Awards, as well as ranking 36th out of the top 100 employers in the National Undergraduate Employability Awards. On the graduate scene, we are also thought of highly, currently ranked 25th in the Times Top 100 graduate employers and 118th in the Guardian UK 300 graduate employers. We also recently won best student marketing campaign in the Target Jobs Graduate Recruitment Awards.
We’re serious about our work, but we want to have a good time too. Our Family Fun Days held last summer are the perfect example. These all-day events, held in every region, gave us a chance to thank our employees and welcome their families to a fete-like event with activities that ranging from bouncy castles and rock climbing walls to face painting, crazy golf, and arts and crafts.
